The leaves of the plant (botanically known as: Murraya koenigii) is a tropical tree native to India and Sri Lanka. Its fragrant leaves are called curry leaves as they are popular for flavouring up curries. They are mostly used as seasoning in the cooking of Sri Lanka, India and their neighbouring countries. Curry leaves have many medicinal properties including reduction of bad Cholesterol in human blood.

Extensively used for flavoring curries
It is extensively used for flavoring curries, pickles, soups, chutneys. It is used for the production of soap. Its volatile oil is used as a fixative for soap perfume.
The curry leaves contain several medicinal properties that include it being anti-diabetic, antioxidant, antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, anti-carcinogenic and with hepato-protective properties. It is also a standard remedy in Ayurveda.
